Evernote is something relatively new to me. However, in my readings and research about
Evernote I think that it is a valuable assessment tool in the classroom. With the use of an Ipod or digital device,
you can access student work easily, without having to lug home notebook after
notebook. You would have a lot of
student data at your fingertips, which makes ongoing assessment so easy. Teachers would be able to also use Evernote
to record assessments of the students.
They could keep a notebook on each student and use it to take anecdotal notes
about each student, videos recordings of students’ explanations and answers,
audio recordings of student reflections and photos of student work that would
help to assist them in giving formative feedback to students. You could essentially have an e-portfolio for
every student in your class that documents your ongoing assessment. By sharing this e-portfolio with the student
whom it belongs to, allows you to give feedback to them and then record
learning goals, as well it will give students an opportunity to do some
self-assessment. Evernote also allows
you to create checklists (specialized for each student that needs
differentiation), which would allow you to use anywhere (outside the school,
while walking around the classroom).

Thanks for the information on Evernote.
ReplyDeleteI especially love the E-portfolio options Kim and thanks for the additional links.
